An invitational Muster of Fyfes and Drums hosted by the Sudbury Ancients will be held on the 27th of September, 2025, on the grounds of Longfellow’s Wayside Inn, 72 Wayside Inn Road, Sudbury, MA. Directions, parking, and camping locations are on the Directions page.
The parade will begin promptly at 12:00 on the gravel road near the camping area. The Muster will immediately follow.
This year, all musicians are invited to join SAFD in playing Anachreon in Heaven from their positions outside the muster field. (Fife sheet music. Drum sheet music.)
In addition, former members of SAFD are invited to join us on the muster field in performing our second standpiece Brandywine Standpiece. (Fife sheet music. Drum sheet music.)
We do not expect to be using a “Company Stand:” you will play yourselves both on and off stand. Please limit yourselves to one medley, however. Thanks for your help in letting all the corps have their turn on stand in daylight.
Camping will begin at noon on Friday. It is a long weekend for the volunteers. Please be respectful and be off the camping grounds by noon on Sunday so they can finish cleaning up and go home. Entrance to the camping grounds is by the “service entrance” road. A list of area hotels is available.
It is important to remember that we are guests of the Wayside Inn. All muster activities are held on its property. The consumption of alcohol on the muster field is limited to within a roped area around the Sudbury Ancients food tent as part of the muster meal served to our guests. At the request of the Inn, all alcohol must be consumed in a mug or “colonial” style drinking cup. No plastic cups will be provided. Some mugs may be available for purchase. Please advise your members of this rule and advise them to bring an appropriate mug or cup. There will be no exceptions.
Any Corps hoping to fire muskets must notify the Sudbury Companies of Militia and Minute (SCMM) at safety@sudburyminutemen.org by August 31 and follow their firing instructions, which will be sent to those who reply. Failure to do so will result in removal from the parade and future invitation lists. The SCMM has decided that no cannons will be allowed to fire.
